How to reach:

  • By Air: Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi is a feasible option for traveling to Shimla as it serves both domestic and international flights.
  • By Rail: Another alternative is the New Delhi Railway Station, which is one through which most trains arrive and depart from Delhi and is located in Paharganj, near Connaught Place.
  • By Road: One of the best options will be by bus, as it is well connected to cities like Jaipur, Agra, Alwar, Dehradun, and even Kathmandu, among others.

Day 1

Delhi to Shimla | A Beautiful Town Encapsulated by Magical Misty Hills

Once you reach Delhi, you will have to proceed towards your boarding point of an AC Volvo Bus for the overnight journey from Delhi to Shimla.

Delhi to Shimla Distance: 241 Km | Duration: 7 Hours

Day 2

Shimla to Kalpa | Spot the Sacred Shivling Rock Atop the Kailash Mountain

When you arrive in Shimla, you'll meet with a representative who will provide you with a brief overview of the tour. After that, you will be transferred to Kalpa. During the journey, you will come across a variety of landscapes, including lush forests, open meadows, apple orchards, and rugged terrain. Make a pit stop for freshening up. By evening, you'll arrive in Kalpa where you can take the rest of the day off and spend the night at a hotel.

Shimla to Kalpa Distance: 220 Km | Duration: 7 Hours, 30 Minutes

Activity: Shimla to Kalpa

  • Get ready to hit the roads and begin your transfer from Shimla to Kalpa.
  • Drive through the scenic tinsel towns of Kufri and Narkanda, where you will feel the freshness in the air as the fruity scent from the apple orchards tickles your nose.
  • Pass through the popular towns of Sarahan and Rampur Bushahr to enter the spectacular Kinnaur valley.
  • As you enter Sarahan, catch a glimpse of the majestic Kinner Kailash looming right above the village, which is said to be the summer abode of Lord Shiva.

 

Day 3

Kalpa to Chitkul | Dare to peep in the valley at Roghi Cliff Point

Wake up early in the mountains and enjoy a hearty breakfast. Then, pack your bags and complete the check-out formalities before starting your journey towards the scenic Roghi Cliff point. Later on, begin your drive to Chitkul by traveling on the Indo-Tibetan Highway until you reach Karcham. You should arrive in Chitkul by late afternoon and overnight stay in Chitkul.

Kalpa to Chitkul Distance: 70 Km | Duration: 2 Hours, 50 Minutes

  • The driver will pick you up from the hotel in Kalpa and transfer you to your pre-booked hotel/homestay in Chitkul.

Activity: Kalpa to Chitkul

  • Start your journey towards the scenic Roghi Cliff Point, popularly known as the Suicide Point, which is located on one of the toughest mountain roads in the country.
  • On the way stop at Karcham-Wangtoo Bridge and later you can make a pit-stop for lunch at Sangla.
  • Reach Chitkul by afternoon and rest for some time, after completing the check-in formalities.
  • The rest of the day is at your leisure where you choose to explore Chitkul and witness a beautiful sunset from this last village on the Indo-Tibetan border.

 

Day 4

Sightseeing in Chitkul | Explore the last inhabited village on Indo -Tibetan border

Start your day with a delicious breakfast and get ready to explore the beautiful town of Chitkul on your own. Today, you have the opportunity to visit some of the town's most popular destinations, including the Mathi and Kagyupa temples, Kamru fort, and the Bering Nag temple. Don't forget to plan a meal at "Hindustan ka Aakhari Dhaba" and spend an evening by the Baspa River watching the stunning sunset. After a full day of adventure, return to your hotel for an overnight stay at Chitkul'.

Chitkul sightseeing Distance: 70 Km | Duration: 5 Hours

  • The driver will pick you up from the hotel/homestay and take you on a sightseeing tour around Chitkul.
  • Post-sightseeing, the driver will drop you at your hotel/homestay for an overnight stay in Chitkul.

Activity: Local Sightseeing

  • Plan a meal at "Hindustan ka Aakhari Dhaba", where you can have a delicious meal along with the best mountain views.
  • As you visit the Mathi temples, listen to the story of how the village began to flourish after the arrival of the goddess Mathi.
  • Pay homage to the Kagyupa temple, which has unique wooden carvings on the temple walls and houses the idol of Shakyamuni Buddha.
  • Later, you can also visit the Kamru Fort and Bering Nag temple located nearby.
  • Walk through the streets of Chitkul to get a glance at the traditional Kinnauri houses adorned with intricate wooden carvings.
  • Spend the evening by the Baspa River, watching a beautiful sunset.

 

Day 5

Chitkul to Shimla | Leave behind the memories from the Kinnaur Valley

Wake up early in the morning and enjoy a delicious breakfast. Get ready to leave Kinnaur Valley as you start your journey to Shimla. Enjoy the scenic drive through the dense pine forests and high mountain passes, which offer stunning views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Later, explore the famous Ridge and the Mall Road of Shimla to experience the nightlife of the city. You will stay overnight at a hotel in Shimla.

Chitkul to Shimla Distance: 236 Km | Duration: 8 Hours, 10 Minutes

  • Post-check-out, the driver will pick you up from the hotel/homestay in Chitkul and transfer you to Shimla at your pre-booked hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 6

Start by hiking to the summit of Jakhoo Hill to visit the ancient temple of Lord Hanuman. Afterward, visit Rashtrapati Niwas and Christ Church. In the evening, you can explore other locations like Town Hall, Gaiety Theatre, and Scandal Point. Finally, make your way to Shimla Bus Stand and catch your bus back to Delhi.
